What I do today...

I am currently teaching at the Haymon-Morris Middle School in 6th grade earth science.

At Haymon-Morris Middle School, I bring two lifetimes of professional experience to the classroom, along with my passion for science. I earned my Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which led to research in cell cycle checkpoints and carcinogenesis at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the Emory Winship Cancer Institute. Ready for a change, I completed my J.D. at the University of Georgia and practiced patent law. After witnessing the impact of the pandemic on education, I wanted to inspire students to pursue STEM careers. I am working to get students at HMMS excited about science with hands-on active learning. I continue to stay abreast of current technology trends as a way to help transfer my knowledge and experience.  I am a certified Apple Teacher and continue to learn new tools each day.
